There’s nothing quite like the classic tastes of Ashland. The town’s personality shines through in the food you find off the beaten path.
Wiley’s World Pasta Shoppe & Eatery is the quintessential Ashland restaurant. Small and personal, they feature fresh organic house-made pastas, sauces, and a red onion-poppy seed salad dressing that’s to die for. They can accommodate special diets from vegan to wheat-free. Be sure to check the daily specials board for items that aren’t on the printed menu (I almost missed out on the best beef stroganoff of my life when I forgot to check the board).
Omar’s dining room is open for lunch and dinner hours, with a menu of fine steaks and fresh Pacific seafood prepared by an award-winning chef. Even the dinner salad (pictured above) is a special treat. The bar menu features great burgers, appetizers, and deep fried deliciousness, plus a wide array of microbrews. You may order from either of the available menus on either side of the establishment. Don’t forget Mars Night 9-midnight every Wednesday!
Great American Pizza bakes up a wide variety of toppings on delicious homemade crust. Be sure to order a side of Dough Knots!
The Beanery is an Oregon coffee house chain and a great place to relax and study.
The Wild Goose is a full service family restaurant, with hearty meals featuring local meats. The bar in back is home to karaoke night on Fridays and Saturdays and open mike night on Sundays.
Rogue Valley Roasting Co. is the friendly, local coffee house just down the hill from Ashland High School. The owner is on the 4th of July parade committee, so drop by and check out the folks who make your Ashland experience complete.
Munchies is a must-visit on the plaza downtown. My favorites are their burgers… and desserts… and other baked goods… and Mexican… and soups… and breakfasts. Keep in mind that the best time to eat downtown is on Monday (when the theatres are dark) and when the playgoers are done eating.
Greenleaf on the plaza mixes deli, vegetarian, Mediterranean, and American standards, including an expansive gluten-free menu.
Alex’s above the plaza is a charming spot for a dinner date or relaxing over drinks with a group of friends.
Puck’s is “just” a donut shop, but if you love freshly baked donuts you’ll love Puck’s. They also serve bubble tea.
Big Al’s is a good, old school burger joint, plus a Mexican menu.
The Breadboard features classic homestyle breakfasts and lunches.
